This week, the Prince of Wales has allowed cameras onboard the Royal Train, giving the public a chance to see the interior of the train for the first time since it was built.

Introduced over 150 years ago by Queen Victoria, the Royal Train has always been shrouded in a certain element of mystery. Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are the only people allowed to use the locomotive, generating a sense of intimacy within the cabin walls.

This week, however, Prince Charles has allowed cameras onboard, giving the public a chance to see the train for the first time since it was built. Surprisingly, given the Prince's more traditional taste, the bespoke study (pictured) consists of rather modern, functional furniture. Family clearly remains important, as pictures of the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother adorn the walls.
